Typical 3D survey animation

Discover the basics of a PetroMarker 3D survey by watching this video animation. The animation will bring you through the various sequences of a vertical electric site investigation:

Planning phase:

  • Obtaining data from the oil company to build-up a model of the site,
  • Running a 1D modeling study to verify that the technology is applicable to the site,
  • In this case, the difference between the hydrocarbon response and the non-hydrocarbon respons gives a detectable contrast,
  • Designing the survey lay-out which fits best the site conditions:
    • Rx are receiver locations,
    • Tx are pulsing locations.

Operational phase:

A little window on the upper left corner of the video gives an indication of the chosen survey lay-out, with receivers as yellow triangles and pulsing locations as red dots.

Transiting to site,

  • Launching the ROV (used to survey the bottom conditions, to assist deployment/recovery, to verify verticality and orientation, to check positions, to download data subsea if required),
  • Deploying the tripods (receivers),
  • Moving to first pulsing location,
  • Deploying the pulse electrodes,
  • Verifying verticality of the pulse system,
  • Pulsing from different locations to establish a 3D coverage.
