Environment friendly EM techniques
Published: November, 2011A recent study confirms that EM techniques have little impact on marine life.
LGL Ltd. was commissioned by the International Association of Geophysical Contractors (IAGC) to evaluate the effects of EM surveying on the marine environment.
The study confirms that there is "no potential for significant effects on animal groups such as fish, seabirds, sea turtles and marine mammals".
PetroMarker's own internal evaluation had come to the same conclusion.
The study further elaborates on the fact that the cumulative effects from EM surveys are negligible compared to natural EM anomalies. Such anomalies are created by for example water currents or subsea installations.
PetroMarker's stationary pulsing technique reduces even more the spacial effect of EM surveying.
The study by LGL Ltd. is available on the IAGC website.
