3D or no 3D?

More precisely, the modeling and the inversion that is needed to make statements on the underground may be done under the assumption of a 1D layered earth model.

This simplification results to a strong reduction in the complexity of the data interpretation and reduces the need to carry-out extensive 3D surveys in order to obtain key information.
